Religious Education

Our RE Leader is Mrs McAlynn.

Religious Education is a fundamental part of our school life and is taught as a core subject. We ensure that each class fulfils the Diocesan recommendation of 10% teaching time and we follow the Bishop’s chosen programme ‘The Vine and The Branches‘ in a creative way.

RE is so much more than just lessons in a classroom at OLOP as our faith permeates everything that we do

The programme is divided into six branches taught over the year:

  • Autumn 1 – Creation and Covenant
  • Autumn 2 – Prophecy and Promise
  • Spring 1 – Galilee to Jerusalem
  • Spring 2 – Desert to Garden
  • Summer 1 – To the Ends of the Earth
  • Summer 2 – Dialogue and Encounter

Each unit begins with script and the whole scheme is based around listening to and becoming familiar with the Word of God.
